Closing Biden’s Parole Loophole

Editorial Team

This week, the Supreme Court handed President Trump a major victory in the fight to restore order at our southern border.

In a 5-4 decision, the Court allowed the administration to revoke the so-called “humanitarian parole” status for over 530,000 migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela—a Biden-era loophole that had become a backdoor amnesty program.

Let’s break this down.

Under the previous administration, migrants from these countries were granted two-year work permits and temporary legal status, provided they had a U.S. sponsor and arrived by air.

This policy, known as the CHNV parole program, was touted as a humane solution to border crossings. But in reality, it bypassed our immigration laws and overwhelmed our communities.

President Trump recognized the dangers of this policy from day one.

On his first day back in office, he signed an executive order to end these categorical parole programs, emphasizing the need for case-by-case assessments rather than blanket approvals.

Critics argue that revoking this status is cruel, but let's be clear: the United States cannot sustain an open-door policy that strains our resources and undermines the rule of law.

The Supreme Court's decision reinforces the principle that immigration policies must be enacted through proper legal channels, not executive overreach.

This move is not about turning our backs on those in need; it's about ensuring that our immigration system is fair, orderly, and serves the interests of American citizens.

By ending the CHNV parole program, President Trump is taking a stand for the rule of law and the sovereignty of our nation.

For too long, we've allowed policies that prioritize the interests of non-citizens over those of hardworking Americans. It's time to put America first.
