A Focus on American Veterans

Editorial Team

This week, President Trump took decisive action to honor our nation’s veterans by signing an Executive Order on May 9, 2025, establishing the National Center for Warrior Independence at the West Los Angeles VA campus.

The Order redirects funds previously spent on housing or services for illegal aliens toward constructing and maintaining this Center, and charges VA Secretary Doug Collins with coordinating across HUD, HHS, and other agencies to deliver comprehensive care and benefits.

The goal: house up to 6,000 homeless veterans by January 1, 2028, and provide on‑site substance abuse treatment, vocational support, and streamlined benefits assistance—all in one national hub for self‑sufficiency.

A Promise Kept for Our Nation’s Warriors

For the hardworking Americans out there who have worn the uniform and paid the price, this is a promise kept.

On May 9, 2025, President Trump signed “Keeping Promises to Veterans and Establishing a National Center for Warrior Independence,” designating the West Los Angeles VA campus as the permanent home for this initiative. This action builds on first‑term efforts to increase accountability and benefits for veterans nationwide.

Reclaiming Our Priorities and Resources

Too often, Washington’s priorities have strayed from the men and women who defended our freedom. This Order redirects money once used to house illegal aliens toward American heroes.

The White House Fact Sheet makes it clear: those federal dollars will now build dorms, treatment centers, and support facilities for veterans who’ve been left out in the cold.

A One‑Stop Hub for Self‑Sufficiency

Gone are the days of veteran services scattered across multiple offices and red tape. The National Center for Warrior Independence will offer on‑site substance abuse treatment, mental health counseling, and job‑readiness training under one roof.

Veterans will find a centralized benefits desk to expedite claims, appointments, and eligibility determinations. Secretary Collins will work hand‑in‑hand with HUD and HHS to ensure no veteran falls through the cracks.

A National Model of Veteran Support

Los Angeles alone has roughly 3,000 homeless veterans—about 10% of the country’s total—so starting here makes strategic sense. But this Center isn’t just for Californians.

Through partnerships with municipalities and VA facilities nationwide, any veteran who wants to rebuild can find a path to self‑sufficiency at West LA or be transported there to receive the care they deserve.

By January 1, 2028, this bold initiative aims to house 6,000 veterans in safe, supportive environments—an ambitious yet achievable target.

With streamlined services and restored accountability, the National Center for Warrior Independence will stand as a beacon of American resolve: we defend our freedom, and we honor our warriors.

It’s time to rally behind this mission—share this news, contact your representatives, and make sure nobody who served is left behind.

Should the President take funding away from illegal aliens and use it to benefit our Military Veterans?
