Taking the Ivory off the Pedestal

Editorial Team

Let me ask you something — when was the last time a kid from a small town in Iowa, who worked two jobs and went to community college, got handed a six-figure job just for having the “right connections?”

Exactly.

But that’s exactly what happens every single day in the gilded halls of Harvard, Yale, and the rest of the Ivy League elite.

These institutions — once places of real learning and American exceptionalism — have become echo chambers for leftist ideology and factories for future bureaucrats, globalists, and corporate puppets. And for too long, we’ve subsidized their nonsense on the taxpayer's dime.

Well, those days might be coming to an end.

Last week, the Trump administration did something bold: it told the Ivy League to shove it. According to The Guardian, the administration halted new student visa interviews for foreign students aiming to attend elite U.S. universities, ordered full social media screenings, and even slapped Harvard with a $100 million federal contract freeze for its role in pushing anti-American rhetoric and policies that do nothing for hardworking citizens.

“The president is pushing for federal resources to be shifted from Ivy League elites to trade schools that actually build things and teach skills.”
The Guardian, May 28, 2025

Can I get an amen?

Because while these pampered institutions churn out kids who major in “deconstructing capitalism” and “intersectional basket weaving,” middle-class American families are drowning in student loan debt from state schools — schools that aren’t getting $100 million checks from Uncle Sam.

And let’s be real. We don’t have a shortage of gender studies professors.

We have a shortage of welders, plumbers, skilled mechanics, and software technicians. We need builders. Innovators. Doers. Not another wave of suit-and-tie policy zombies who couldn’t change a tire if their life depended on it.

That’s why Trump’s push to shift focus from the Ivy League to trade schools and skill-based education is so important. He’s reminding America that greatness doesn’t come from a degree—it comes from grit.

Let’s invest in the people who actually make this country run. The ones who fix the water mains, wire the circuits, and keep the trucks moving coast to coast.

Let’s stop handing money to schools that churn out protest signs and start building a pipeline to real, meaningful work again.

This isn’t about punishing education. It’s about refocusing it. It’s about defending our freedom by building the workforce of the future — not some utopian theory classroom.

For the hardworking Americans out there who skipped college to raise a family, who started a business instead of taking out $100,000 in loans, this is for you. The tide is turning. The elites are getting nervous.

And it’s about time.
